Black cat cottage where is it?

when i was about 5 years old on frequent trips by car with my parents from county durham to london down the great north road we used to pass a white cottage whose white frontage was covered in black metal cats does it still exist and if it does where is it im 59 now this was about 1955 a long time ago can anyone help
