Is North Carolina the most progressive/liberal state in the South?

As a state, NC is one of the more progressive of the southern areas, especially Raleigh. There are a lot of research universities that attract liberals from the north. There are pockets of liberals elsewhere in the South (ie. Atlanta), but generally they aren't as large.

Durham vs. St. Andrews?

I'm an American and I've been accepted to both of these British universities. Now I'm trying to decide which one I'm actually going to attend. I know that they're both very well regarded schools, but if anyone has any opinions on either one I'd love to hear them. By the way, I'm going to be a history major.

Please help me...PLEASE. He hit me.?

The only way he will even try to change is if you leave him, and dont go back until he has proven that he has changed. Men like him cannot just change on their own, they need therapy for a long time. You can research therapy for men who commit domestic violence on the internet. You will also learn that there is absolutely no hope for change at all unless you leave. Men never, ever just change if the woman is prepared to stay and forgive them. You must break up first, and only get back to him when he can talk to you at length about what he has learned in therapy, so you know it is true. Even if he does, you should insist that going to therapy together would be a condition of you getting back with him. If you do not leave, he will not change. It is your responsibility, if you really love him, to leave him, so he is made to realise that his behaviour is unacceptable. By staying, you are telling him it's fine. He is committing crimes against you, and if he puts you in hospital or someone calls the police, things will get much much worse for him. For his own good, leave.

Do people have a problem with this?

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as you aren't being all nasty and stuff. A kiss here and there is just fine.

Landlord questions about tenants?

Hi I am a new landlord, decided to rent my house out to a older lady and her daughter. After they were in for 2 weeks she asked if her friend could move in to help with the rent. I agreed to this but told her she needed to be put on the lease. I didn't hear anything back, then a couple weeks later I went over to the house, was talking to the neighbor. The Neighbor proceeded to inform me the not only their was the new lady but there was another big dog, a man living with them. I don't feel comfortable with this situation as all has been a lie. Now the lady I originally rented to wants them gone but don't want the drama that it will cause. I need to know what I can do as a landlord. I would like them all out and start over. The rent was not paid yet but she has until the 5th to pay. Please help I live in Michigan if this helps Thanks for your time Joe...

What are ways that I can negotiate lower rent with my landlord?

I've been a tenant for three years where I currently live, and rent is quite high. I lost my job and am going back to school. Been a good tenant and paid on time ALMOST every month. Month-to-month lease. How can I negotiate lower rent? Any tips, strategies, advice?
