Should the United States have continued to escalate its involvement in the Vietnam War?

We didn't need to escalated. We needed a reasonable set of rules of engagement that would have allowed the American military to cross into Laos and Cambodia and wipe out the Communist base camps set up there. Without these military bases the North Vietnamese would have been unable to launch one invasion after another of South Vietnam, let alone keep a high-intensity insurgency operating. Neither Laos nor Cambodia were ever "neutral" countries. The Communists violated their neutrality from day one, and to pretend otherwise was what lost us the war (or at least was one of the major factors).
